Malynda Vigliotti, a/k/a Boom Boom, is the owner of Boom Boom Brow Bar in New York City’s West Village. Malynda is a self-proclaimed eyebrow queen and is a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology. Our interview here covers her philosophy on beauty and power, and a few good tips for the diva in all of us.
Q: Your push-up highlighting brow pencil just won “Best Brow Color” for Shecky’s 2010 Beauty Awards. What’s another must- have Boom Boom retail item that’s hot right now?
A: The Boom Boom Brow Boostier! With all these gorgeous big bold brows, Boom Boom Boostier beefs up brows while looking natural. It’s also super easy to work with.
Q: What do you recommend for women with scar tissue on one eyebrow? How can they achieve a uniform look to both arches? Do you use powders or pencils to fill in sparse areas?
A: Each brow is different and many people have scars either in the brow or close to. When this is the case, you have to be careful and come up with a plan.
More times than not, you do the good brow first and then try to do the same with the other pretending the scar is not there so you can get a uniform look. Then you fill them in with Boom Boom’s Brow Boostier. It takes 2 sec’s!
Q: As a well-known brow sculptor in New York City, which celebrities’ brows are among your favorites these days?
A: Boom Boom is all about brow power to the people. The concept is that every woman should be able to have gorgeous brows for $20. Of course, I am obsessed with celebs, but I am not one, and I actually don’t even know any. We are the people and as you can see reality is the new celebrity, hence, Snooki!
Q: To Tweeze or Not to Tweeze? Do you prefer tweezing over waxing?
A: Love to wax! You get a gorgeous clean line because it gets all the little hairs. But I will say I do use Flash Wax for sensitive skin. It is a lavender based wax that is super gentle and I feel like it doesn’t hurt as much. Again, I say WAX- but seriously make sure you tweeze if someone is on Accutane, Retin A, etc.
Q: How can a girl live with a bad brow service until they grow back in?
A: Push up brow to the rescue. You can conceal the stragglers so you do not feel like a mess in the meantime. But pleeeease do not touch them. Be hopeful and go somewhere good in a month. You will be ok….promise. PS – I am sorry you had a bad experience!
